Banquet/ Chinese Auction/ Tire Raffle

Don't forget about the banquet tomorrow. We have somewhere between 45 and 50 items for the chinese auction. Special thanks to Dave Clow & family, Gene Taylor & family, Tony DeVito & family, and Bruce and Lana for their help making this auction successful. Most items have a value of at least $20. Tickets for the chinese auction will be $1 each or sheet of 25 with door prize ticket for $20. We will continue to sell tickets for the tire raffle, those are $5 each and we will be having a 50/50 drawing with tickets at normal prices of $1 each, 6 for $5, or 15 for $10.

Great run on Sat. and Sun. in the KID KARTS!!! Evan Dawson #67 and Chase Metheney #31C!!!!!! We drove out to Anna Ohio(4 1/2 hours+)for a indoor race on dirt and these 2 kids where BAD FAST for their first time there!!!!! Evan Dawson won Sat.(his first race indoors and first year racing) and Chase Metheney Got 2nd out of 7 really fast karts! Sunday was another GREAT day as Evan Dawson came up and finished 2nd and Chase Metheney finished 3rd out of 6 fast karts! JJ i can't say thanks enough!! U really saved my butt when i was stranded along Rt.30 from 11pm. Friday Until 6am Sat..... Very good people and can't wait to go do some more racing and hanging out with this family.
Also want to THANK Ken McCabe,Jimmy Watson,and Gary Snyder for puttin the boy in their kart and sponsoring the boy and I all year!! We couldn't have done it without the 3 of ya'll.

Burris 11's

Looking for a quality, used set of Burris SS-11's / mounted.
I don't need speedcuts nor a $400 set.

I am searching on 4cycle.com and other sites for leads.

If you have a set to sell, let me know tire date code, brand of rim,
how many races are on them and what you are asking.
I am looking to throw these on for about 4-6 races when Cari and I do some travelling next season.
Our tires for Goodhope are fine.

Just don't want to spend $$$ for a new set of rubber for a handful of races.
Someones good spare set would be just fine.

DO you guys Know about "The Big Show" in Feb?

Am looking for people that want to go down to share the driving. Going to get the biggest trailer of the group and load equiptment together to save cost. I am trying to get as many KUAS guys as I can. but will accept anyone that wants to give the coke a go.

On September 15, 2010, The Ultimate Karting Championships, LLC (UKC) was formed to do one thing: promote the sport of kart racing. UKC's goals include providing the absolute best insurance and awards programs to track owners, promoting and hosting existing and new events that enhance the quality of the show(s), and work with other sanctioning bodies to create solid plans to grow the sport through advertising, attending trade shows that showcase karting, and getting the karting schedule with less conflicts of race dates.

Please understand that the UKC is not just another organization that will depend on gate passes, entry fees, and membership dues to by the bills, yet work with the industry now to gain outside support to move the sport back into solid growth patterns. Through networking the existing manufacturers, kart dealers, and shop owners, we CAN and WILL develop a plan that will promote karting to the non-karter and to the non-racer for that matter. What amazes me is that some promoters out there will just copy the efforts of others once their program is successful and capitalize on the idea of the event, instead of providing something new and exciting to the sport. Its sad that they typically do not give back to the industry, just their back accounts. If my comments offend anyone, maybe they apply to you. Be creative in your own program!!

I guess what Im trying to say is that the way karting has been doing business over the last 10 years DOES NOT work. We just add classes to the weekend to gain an extra entry fee and parking spot reservation. That doesnt grow the sport, only adds money to the race promoters pocket. Its time we develop some sort of plan to get NEW people into the sport growing the pie everyone is eating from. I have a meeting at the PRI show this year in Orlando, FL with a group with the same goals (of growing the sport) in mind. The UKC will be more of a promotional / marketing group than a sanctioning body that holds just another kart race trying to be the next best thing. Dont get me wrong, if an organization can hosts events that grow the sport through their efforts, sign the UKC up to help. Enough about that....Im off my rant for now!

I just wanted to clarify what the UKCs role will be in this industry. I am not tied to a particular kart shop, engine builder, or manufacturer; therefore, I and the UKC can and will be effective to making every aspect of the industry prosperous again with some level of prestige, rewarding the participants for their efforts, and creative a sense that we need each other to get through this slump.

The "BIG Show @ Charlotte" will do just that by hosting the following activities:

140 (10x10) booth spaces, attended by top karts shops and manufacturers of the 4 cycle industry.

2 nights of racing (8 classes each night)

50 swap meet spaces (for those wanting to sell / trade used or older new products)

12 Seminars hosted by industry leaders giving the karters / non karters their insight of their product and area of the industry

Moosefest will host the annual UAS banquet on Saturday night, February 6th, 2010

More than 40 tracks will be invited; Sanctioning bodies, series, etc. will have an area to set- up free of charge to promote their karting programs

A Dyno competition (paying $500-$1,000 to the winning engine builder)

An Arrive and Drive program - 10 chassis will be prepared for the non karter to come Saturday during the day to ride 10 laps, at no cost to them

The 2009 Maxxis National Awards Ceremony/Presentation

I have hired On-Site Productions out of Atlanta, GA to provide our audio / video show keeping the show exciting with indoor pyro. Also, I have Lineberger productions on board with 5 TV cameras on property to produce a 1 hour TV show to air on sports networks...

I would to take this opportunity to thank all the companies who have come on board as exhibitors of the 1st ever "BIG Show @ Charlotte", presented by the Ultimate Karting Championships, LLC. The event will be at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center in Concord, NC on February 5 & 6, 2010. John Smith who was just at Good Hope Speedway with the Unlimited All Stars has passed away after returning home from Slippery Rock yesterday. The web site above is about John. R.I.P. John you will be greatly missed!!

Update on Don Roy (The KUAS racer that wrecked)

I just got off the phone with Don and he updated me on his injurys.

THe initial report was that he only had some fractures to his right foot. He has been to the hospital several times this past week and they desided to do an MRI yesterday and found that his foot is much worse than they first thought. He has several breaks in his foot the worst of which is a break in his heel.

They are currently discussing reconstructive surgery as being the only solution.

He is in good spirits considering the pain he is in. He does not curently have access to the net because his computer is on the second floor and he can't do steps very well. He thanked everyone for the well wishes also

He also informed me that he WILL be behind the wheel in 2010 so everyone look out the old man of the UAS is down but not out.

call before leaving

Unfortunately the rain hit us again yesterday. At the present time, there is still standing water throughout turns 3&4, some on the front stretch and a little bit in turn 2. The majority of the track surface is too wet to even walk on. The birds were also bathing in the pit area. We will make a definite decision between 11:30 and 12:00, but I want to see if it is goint to dry up at all before I call it. Please call before you leave. I will update the message board as soon as I can get on the internet. Cathy

Info for Oct. 10th Recession Race

Here is the scoop for Saturday October 10th. Assuming the weather cooperates, gates will open at 1:00 as usual. The Clow family is bringing cornhole, and we will probably come up with a few other games, Hot laps will still be at 4:00 with racing at 5:00. We will have a few special races this day, such as mechanics, possibly powderpuff and things like that. If you would like to bring covered dishes to share, you are welcome to do that. We will have the concession stand open, selling out all remaining inventory.

Prices are as follows: Gate entry - $5, Hot pit - $7, and Race entry - $5

There will not be any payout, this is just for fun. We will be having several drawings, and all kids will receive something.

Don't forget, we will be drawing for the tire raffle this week, make sure to purchase your tickets when you sign in. They are $5 each and will be available in the registration area.

Also, don't forget to sign up for the banquet. We will have forms available.
